Readings and discussion

You'll find most of what you'll be reading as assignments in the printed Narrative Nonfiction Portfolio available from the J-School Secretary's office. There'll probably also be a few reading assignments from handouts and from web sites.

You'll be assigned to lead the class discussion of one or more of the assigned readings, and to respond to the readings in weekly Journals. Our goal is not simply to decide whether we like a particular story -- although that's certainly important -- but to analyze the approaches and literary devices each writer used to tell the story. Why do you think the writers made the choices they did? Would you have done things differently?
